Every second meeting ends with no results or is superfluous / Only one in three companies successfully implements digital process management – “Collaboration – The key to success” study

September 23, 2021 | Global News, News Germany

In connection with the Corona pandemic, people like to talk about an increase in digitization among companies. But managers and employees still suffer from a flood of emails and inconclusive and superfluous meetings. This can be remedied by digital process management, which prepares information clearly and transparently and brings it to where it is needed. For the “Collaboration – The key to success” study, management consultancy Staufen together with the experts from Staufen.Valuestreamer surveyed more than 300 companies in Germany.

First, the good news: In three out of four German companies, the use of digital tools is currently being expanded in a targeted manner. But the Corona pandemic has shown that home offices and video conferencing alone are not enough to take corporate collaboration to a new level. “Many companies have so far simply transferred familiar behaviors to the digital world. This results in old problems continuing to make working efficiently difficult,” says Wilhelm Goschy, CEO of Staufen AG.

For example, the daily flood of emails is still a burden to day-to-day business for 70 percent of companies. Emails clog inboxes of many employees as they are sent to ever larger distribution lists and thus also reach those who are not directly involved in a project. Half of the companies also complain about inconclusive and unnecessary meetings and discussions. Staufen CEO Goschy: “A key finding of our study is that the wrong people are sitting in one-third of all meetings.”

Transparency, prioritization and organization remain a weakness

Despite working in teams, collaboration also suffers because, to date, only a quarter of companies clearly and transparently prioritize tasks. “The majority of managers therefore are often too late to recognize, for example, that individual employees or teams are overloaded in order to alleviate them in time,” says Dr. Andreas Romberg, Managing Director of Staufen.ValueStreamer GmbH.

According to the study results, many also lack organized daily collaboration in digitization. “Getting the information where it needs to go. And connecting the right people to the right processes is still a problem,” says collaboration expert Romberg. “This is because companies have been slow to use digital tools for process and project management.”

“The software solution ValueStreamer® we developed and successfully established in companies is therefore a logical step towards meeting the digitization requirements of companies in terms of management, control, and collaboration,” Romberg continues. “Our digital Shop Floor Management solution enables global collaboration and leadership at a distance in global value networks.”
